If you have a hankering for a decadent, chocolatey milkshake, sans the sugar rush and upset stomach, look no further. This afternoon I was craving something indulgent, so I whipped up this little number and it did not disappoint.
So without further ado, I give you my most favorite concoction for a vegan, dairy-free, no-fake-sugar shake.
CHOCOLATE BANANA 'MILK' SHAKE
(makes one 12 oz. serving)
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut yogurt
1/2-3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla coconut milk
1 heaping Tablespoon raw almonds (pre-soaked, if possible), or almond butter
1 Tablespoon cacao nibs
2 pitted dates
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
few dashes cinnamon
Combine all the ingredients in a high-power blender. Start with 1/2 cup coconut milk, add more to reach desired thickness. Blend again briefly to incorporate the added coconut milk.
Garnish with cacao nibs and cinnamon.
